NIT Rourkela Establishes “Prof. G. K. Roy Memorial Scholarship.”
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed between the Prof. G. K. Roy Charitable Trust and the National Institute of Technology Rourkela to institute the “Prof. G. K. Roy Memorial Scholarship” aimed at supporting deserving students from the Department of Chemical Engineering.
The trust, represented by its Chairman Prof. Abanti Sahoo, has created a corpus fund of ?20 lakh to provide financial assistance to meritorious students. The scholarship honours the legacy of Prof. G. K. Roy (Former Professor and the First Director of NIT Rourkela), whose visionary leadership laid a strong foundation for the institute.
On behalf of the institute, the agreement was signed by Prof. H. B. Sahu, Dean (Alumni, Industry & International Relations, NIT Rourkela). The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao (Director, NITR), Prof. Pradip Sarkar (Dean, Planning and Development, NITR), along with 1971 batch alumni representatives Shri Fakir Charan Mohanty (President, NITRAA) and Shri Bijay Chandra Das.
This initiative aims to support deserving students of Chemical Engineering in pursuing academic excellence without financial barriers.
