National Science Day 2026 Celebrated at NIT Rourkela!
NIT Rourkela observed National Science Day2026 by organising an engaging keynote talk on “Particle Hunter’s Guide” along with a vibrant science exhibition. The exhibition, titled ‘Magic of Science’, was conducted under the ANRF PAIR SAHEE (Sustainable Agriculture, Health, Energy, and Environment) Consortium of the Institute. The celebration witnessed the participation of over 400 school students from various institutions, along with faculty members, researchers, staff, and students of NIT Rourkela.
The programme commenced with the inauguration of the ‘Science Day Exhibition’, where researchers of the Institute presented innovative exhibits showcasing advancements in science, technology, and sustainable development. The formal function was inaugurated by Vigyan Shri awardee Prof. Naba Kumar Mondal (Senior Scientist at the Indian National Science Academy and Professor at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics) as the Chief Guest. He graced the occasion in the presence of Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director; Prof. S. K. Pratihar, Project Director, ANRF-PAIR; Prof. Rohan Dhiman, Registrar; Prof. Jyoti Prakash Kar, Head of the Department of Physics; Dr. Monalisa Pattnaik, Professor-in-Charge of Institute Seminar; and Prof. Hanumanth Rao B., Co-PIC, Institute Seminar.
The highlight of the event was the keynote address on “Particle Hunter’s Guide” delivered by Prof. Mondal, who provided insightful perspectives into the exciting field of particle physics and contemporary scientific exploration.
The exhibition featured diverse themes, including renewable energy solutions, biomedical innovations, environmental conservation models, agricultural technologies, and applied physics demonstrations. Key exhibits included:
