NIT Rourkela commences the "Rashtriya Karmayogi Jan Seva Program"
29 November 2025: NIT Rourkela has commenced the 'Rashtriya Karmayogi Jan Seva Program (Phase-II)', an interactive capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening a citizen-centric approach among government employees. Under the guidance of Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao (Director, NIT Rourkela) the program stands as an important institutional effort contributing to the national Karmayogi Bharat mission.
More than 700 faculty and staff members are participating, supported by a team of five trained Master Trainers from NIT Rourkela: Dr. Smrutisikha Bal, Dr. Swagatika Sahoo, Dr. Dibya Kishor Pradhan, Mr. Joydip Mondal, who are facilitating the sessions with structured engagement, along with Mr. Snehasis Parhi, who is acting as MDO admin for the program. Prof. Rohan Dhiman (Registrar, NIT Rourkela) is serving as the nodal officer for the program. The training familiarizes participants with the core principles of the Karmayogi Bharat Mission, i.e. intent to serve (seva bhaav), accountability, and alignment of individual responsibilities with larger national goals. Designed around four interactive modules of 1.5 hours each, the program encourages introspection, constructive group discussions, and the adoption of solution-driven practices that contribute to meaningful improvements in public service.
Aligned with the broader national goal of Viksit Bharat, participants were also introduced to the iGOT Karmayogi platform, a digital learning ecosystem. The platform enables continuous learning for government officials through flexible, any-device access to competency-based courses, ensuring that professional development remains accessible and future-ready. To date, over 200 members of the institutes have completed their training under this initiative.
