Course Objective
| 1 . |
To introduce students to the fundamental concepts, characteristics, evolution, scope, and strategic dimensions of retailing, including the distinction between goods and services retailing and the management of retailer relationships.

| 2 . |
To develop students’ understanding of merchandise management, including merchandising planning, category management, merchandise planning methods, vendor selection and negotiation, and inventory management. |
| 3 . |
To equip students with the knowledge and analytical skills required to apply retail analytics techniques for understanding customer preferences and making informed pricing decisions, including conjoint analysis, logistic regression, demand estimation, and price bundling.

To enable students to analyse and evaluate retail location decisions through trading-area analysis, assessment of trading-area characteristics, and systematic site selection. |

To develop students’ understanding of the managerial dimensions of retail businesses, including human resource management and challenges, financial management, and operational management, for effective retail performance. |
Course Outcome

After successful completion of this course, the learners shall be able to explain the fundamental concepts, evolution, characteristics, scope, and strategic dimensions of retailing, including retailer relationships and goods versus services retailing. |

After successful completion of this course, the learners shall be able to apply principles of merchandise management, including merchandising planning, category management, vendor selection and negotiation, and inventory management, to retail decision-making. |

After successful completion of this course, the learners shall be able to apply and interpret retail analytics techniques, including conjoint analysis, logistic regression, demand-curve estimation, and price bundling, to understand customer preferences and support retail pricing decisions. |

After successful completion of this course, the learners shall be able to analyse and evaluate retail location decisions using trading-area analysis, characteristics of trading areas, and systematic site-selection approaches. |
