National Institute of Technology Rourkela has a social obligation to
train the young men and women of the community in jobs that will fetch them
rewarding employment. To make it possible, the institute has a scheme of
“stipendiaries”. Under this scheme, the institute appoints:

Stipendiary Engineer (Diploma Engineer)
Stipendiary Technician (ITI)
Stipendiary Assistants (BA/BSC/B.Com/BCA/BBA)

Some key features of this scheme are:

The stipendiary personnel will be given opportunity to earn on-the-job
experience, working alongside regular employees, helps them learn various
trades.
Maximum 3 years, extension for 3rd year depending on a certificate by HOD to the
effect that the incumbent has learnt all skills and is ready for an open market
job. Stipend shall not be available after 3 years or 25th birthday whichever
comes earlier.
