1. Design of roller hearth kiln with definite capacity used in ceramic tiles industries
|
Course Objective
| 1 . |
Develop the ability to apply principles of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, mass transfer, and process engineering for the design of ceramic process equipment. |
| 2 . |
Design and size major equipment used in ceramic, glass, refractory, and alumina industries based on process requirements, production capacity, and operating conditions. |
| 3 . |
Analyze process parameters, perform engineering calculations, and select suitable materials and design specifications for thermal and mechanical equipment. |
| 4 . |
Develop engineering problem-solving skills through equipment design involving material and energy balances, thermal efficiency, and process optimization. |
| 5 . |
Enhance the ability to prepare engineering design reports, technical drawings, and design calculations conforming to industrial practices and engineering standards. |
Course Outcome
| 1 . |
Design a roller hearth kiln for ceramic tile production by determining kiln dimensions, firing schedule, heat requirement, and production capacity. |
| 2 . |
Design a ball mill for grinding ceramic raw materials by calculating mill dimensions, grinding media loading, power requirement, and operating parameters. |
| 3 . |
Design an industrial autoclave for alumina production using Bayer's process considering operating pressure, temperature, vessel dimensions, and material selection. |
| 4 . |
Design a tray dryer for drying aluminium hydroxide filter cake by estimating drying time, heat load, airflow requirement, and drying efficiency. |
| 5 . |
Design high-temperature furnaces, including glass tank furnaces and direct-fired rotary kilns, by evaluating combustion systems, heat transfer, refractory requirements, residence time, and production capacity.
