| Module 1 : |
Introduction: scope of powder metallurgy, Powder manufacturing: reduction, electrolysis, and atomization processes- 6 Hours |
| Module 2 : |
Characterization of metal powders, physical properties-particle size and shape determination, technological properties-apparent density, tap density, green density, sintered density, flow rate etc. 10 Hours |
| Module 3 : |
Mixing of powder, compaction and powder lubrication: Die compaction. 5 Hours |
| Module 4 : |
Sintering: solid and liquid state sintering, sintering mechanisms. Sintering furnaces and sintering atmospheres. Sintering theory and the influence of different processing conditions, wetting and surface diffusion. Advanced consolidation techniques like hot pressing (HP), hot iso-static pressing (HIP), spark plasma sintering (SPS) etc. 8 Hours |

Powder metallurgy products: bearing, filters, friction parts, hard metals, refractory metals, contact materials, magnetic materials, structural parts, and dispersion strengthened materials. 6 Hours |
