Introduction to texture of materials, concept of texture in materials, texture representation by pole figure and orientation distribution functions.

Origin and development of textures during materials processing stages: solidification, deformation, annealing, phase transformation, coating processes and thin film deposition. [05 Hours] |
| Module 3 : |
Texture measurement by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD). [10 Hours] |
| Module 4 : |
Some important textures in fcc, bcc and hcp materials. Influence of texture on mechanical and physical properties of materials. [05 Hours] |
