BIOGRAPHY
Abhishek Verma is an Assistant Professor (Adhoc) in the Department of Industrial Design at NIT Rourkela, specializing in innovative, user-centered product design. He earned his Ph.D. in Product Design from IIT Kanpur in 2024, receiving the Outstanding Thesis Medal for his work on integrated design methods for a manual stair-climbing wheelchair. With a Master's in Industrial Design from NIT Rourkela (2017) and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Lovely Professional University (2014), his expertise spans assistive technologies, medical devices, ergonomics, and sustainable design. Key projects include a gynecological endoscope, posture correction wearable, cervical dilation device for cattle, smart walking stick for the visually impaired, educational board games, and child awareness bots. He has published in journals like Engineering Research Express, holds multiple patents, and co-founded Indespace Robotics. Proficient in English and Hindi, he teaches courses on sustainable design, form studies, and geometric modeling.
