BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : Kruss, Site 100
  • Department : Chemical Engineering
  • Location : Interfaces and Nanomaterials Lab
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

The SITE100 operates on the principle of the spinning drop method, where a droplet of one liquid is placed inside a capillary filled with another liquid. The capillary is then rotated at high speeds, causing the droplet to elongate due to centrifugal forces. The interfacial tension is calculated based on the shape of the elongated droplet

APPLICATION:

Interfacial tension Development of Emulsions: For pharmaceuticals, food science, and cosmetics. Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR): To improve the efficiency of oil extraction. Surfactant Research: To study the behavior of surfactants at interfaces. Adsorption Properties: To analyze adsorption at phase boundaries
