To introduce the concept of the band theory of solids and their origin. |

To develop the understanding on the theory of dielectric polarisation and applications. |

To provide the understanding of different types of magnetism and magnetic ordering phenomenon. |

To provide basic ideas in semiconducting properties and superconductivity. |
Course Outcome
| 1 . |
After completion of this course students will gain knowledge about the physics of condensed matter, elementary idea about the band theory of solids, concept of dielectric polarization, magnetic ordering, superconductivity and semiconducting behavior of solids. |
