Syllabus

Module 1 :

Introduction to isolation of natural organic molecules and discussion of separation and purification techniques (3 hours), Caffeine from Tea (6 hours), Lycopene from Tomatoes (6 hours), Piperine from pepper (6 hours), Clove oil by distillation (6 hours), eucalyptus oil from eucalyptus leaves (6 hours).

Course Objective

1 .

To have training and practical experience of isolation of organic molecules from natural resources and To have idea of the importance of organic molecules in natural resources.

2 .

To get hand-on experience of separation and purification techniques, which will be useful in future research and industrial job.

Course Outcome

1 .

1. This course gives basic training on various extraction and isolation techniques for natural products.
2. The students will gain knowledge about the organic molecule content of several natural resources contributing to its various properties.
3. The characterization of isolated organic compounds from natural resources by spectroscopic techniques, m.pt etc.
