Syllabus

Module 1 :

Qualitative analysis of acid and Basic radicals present in inorganic salts Dry test: flame test, dry test tube heating. Wet test-1: Sodium carbonate extract preparation for the detection of anions. For example: Halides (Cl-, Br-, F-, I-), Nitrite, Nitrate, Sulfate, Sulfite, Phosphate, Arsanate.
Wet test-2: Analysis of cations from corresponding acid (HCl/HNO3) extract. Ions from Group 1-group 5.

Course Objective

1 .

Students will have knowledge on how to analyze ions present in various inorganic salts.

2 .

Students will have hands-on practice on handling of inorganic salts with acid and basic medium and also to see their color changes during the reactions

Course Outcome

1 .

1. Students can apply the basic understanding of reactions of inorganic compounds in their higher studies.

2. Students will get practical knowledge to handle inorganic compounds and get basic understanding on various reactions.
3. Understanding the underlying reason of color changes in the reactions.
