Syllabus

Module 1 :

1. Familiarization with LabVIEW software and Data Acquisition Systems.
2. Measurement of force using strain gauges.
3. Measurement of light intensity using LDR with LabVIEW software.
4. Measurement of displacement using LVDT with LabVIEW software.
5. Automatic water level controller using LabVIEW.
6. Data Acquisition using a Sound Card.
7. Electrical Power Measurement using LabVIEW.
8. Measurement of Temperature using LM35 and Thermistor using LabVIEW.
9. Measurement of parameters of an ECG signal for medical diagnosis.
10. Non-intrusive measurement of current using Hall-Effect sensor using LabVIEW.

Course Objective

Comprehending the method of calibrating instruments

Understanding about signal processing in measurement systems

3 .

Understanding the working principles, characteristics and applications of transducers and sensor related to electrical engineering and interdisciplinary areas.

4 .

Creating virtual instruments for measurement systems related to electrical engineering as well as interdisciplinary.

5 .

Hands-on experience with various data acquisition methods in measurement systems

6 .

Implementing DAQ devices for measurement and control applications

Course Outcome

1 .

At the end of the course, the student will be able to
CO1 Understand virtual instrumentation programming and configuring the data acquisition devices for measurement and control applications
CO2 Analyze the datasheets of various sensors and data acquisition devices and apply that knowledge to select proper sensors to design measurement and control circuits
CO3 Create virtual instrument for conservation of natural resources using cost effective sensors and data acquisition devices
CO4 Apply the programming skills of building virtual instrumentations to interdisciplinary areas
CO5 Apply the concepts of modern research in measurement systems
CO6 Understand the method of calibrating a sensor of secondary standard with that of primary standard
