Classification and nomenclature of enzymes, Mechanism of enzyme action.

Module 2 :

Regulation of enzyme activity, Kinetics, Inhibitors, Isozymes, Ribozymes, Abzymes

Module 3 :

Bioenergetics – Oxidative and Photophosphorylation, Electron transport system and ATP synthesis. Carbohydrate Metabolism,

Module 4 :

Lipid metabolism, Nucleic acid metabolism, Mechanism of selective reactions, Regulation of metabolic pathways, Metabolic disorders.

Course Objective

1 .

Students will gain an understanding of the basic concepts in enzymology.

2 .

Students will study the different metabolic pathways

3 .

Students will analyse the reasons behind the metabolic disorders

Students shall know the principles of catalysis in biological systems.

Students shall know the regulatory principles of enzymes

Students will understand the reactions of metabolic pathways of various biomolecules.
