Module 1 :

Course Content:
Module-I
Orientation: Introduction, chemical industries-facts and figures, unit operations and unit process concepts and general principles applied in studying an industry.

Module-II
Inorganic chemical industries:Sulfur and sulfuric acid, fuel and industrial gases, fertilizer industry, nitrogen industries, phosphrous industries, electrochemical industries,, chlor-alkali industries, explosives and propellants.

Module-III
Natural product industries: Edible and essential oils, soaps and detergents, Pains and varnishes, carbohydrates and fermentation industries, food industries, pulp and paper industries.

Module-IV
Synthetic organic chemical industries:Petrochemical industries, chemicals from aromatics, pharmaceutical industry.

Module-V
Polymerization and metallurgical industries:Fundamental and polymerization technology, iron and steel industries, aluminum copper and zinc industries.

Course Objective

1 .

To trained students for the application of basic principles of chemistry, thermodynamics and reaction kinetics

2 .

To have better understanding of inorganic chemical industries, natural product industries, synthetic organic chemical industries, polymerization industries and metallurgical industries

3 .

To trained students to work in chemical industries for diverse operations.

4 .

To make familiar with the major engineering problems associated with chemical process industries.

Course Outcome

1 .

CO1 To understand, analyze and apply basic principles of chemistry, thermodynamics and reaction kinetics for Industrial applications.
CO2 To familiar with different industrial process with help of schematic flow sheet
CO3 Tounderstand the cause of engineering problems associated with industrial process.
CO4 Toanalyze and understand the challenges of synthetic organic chemical industries.
CO5 Tounderstand, analyze and design process systems for monomer and fine ore in Polymerization and metallurgical industries.
