Module-1 Social Movements: Concept, Social Movements and Social Change, Leadership and Ideology, Characteristics and Classification of Social Movements, Elements of Social Movements, Life Cycle of Social Movements.
Module-2 Perspectives on Emergence of Social Movements: Functionalist, Marxist, Gandhian, Resource Mobilization.
Module-3 Globalisation and Social Movements: Information Technology, Trans-national Networks, Anti-globalisation Social Movements
Module-4 Social Movements in India: Agrarian Movements, Dalit Movements, Backward Castes Movements, Ethnic Movements, Naxalite Movement.
Module-5 New Social Movements in India: Environmental Movement, Anti-displacement Movements, LGBT Movements.
