Fundamentals of Noise, Sources and Classification of Noise
Mechanism of Hearing : Types of Hearing Loss, AAOO Criteria
Noise Measuring Instruments and Survey: Sound level meter, audiometer, dose meter, octave band analyzer
Noise Indices : Leq, Ldn , TNI, NII
Noise Control Measures: noise control at source, path and receiver, acoustic barriers, enclosures, control of machinery noise, community and industrial noise control strategies
Noise Standards in India and Abroad
Noise Impact Assessment and Prediction Techniques Noise Modeling Software : ENM, CONCAWE, OCMA, VDI

Course Objective

1 .

Upgrading knowledge and skill in industrial noise survey and developing concepts of noise modelling and mapping and their applications

Course Outcome

1 .

CO1: To familiarize the students with the basics-concepts of noise and mechanism of hearing.
CO2: To discuss and demonstrate the working of Instruments for noise survey.
CO3: To apply and recommend different approaches for noise control in opencast and underground mines.
CO4: To assess noise levels and design noise mapping.
CO5: To develop and evaluate empirical and computational models for noise impact assessment and prediction
