Introduction to Mechatronics System, mechatronics in manufacturing, product and design, Measurement Systems, Control System, comparison between traditional and mechatronics approach. Sensors and Transducers: Introduction, Performance terminology, Displacement, Position and Proximity, Velocity and motion, Fluid pressure, Temperature sensors, Light sensors, Selection of sensors. Actuation system in mechatronics and robotics, Mechanical Actuation System, Processors/Controllers: Microprocessor systems, Microcontrollers, applications. Programmable Logic Controllers: Basic PLC structure, Input/output processing, Sequencing, Timers and counters, Shift registers, Master and jump controls, Code conversion, Data handling, selection of PLC, Data Acquisition- A/D and D/A. Design of Mechatronics systems
