Syllabus

Module 1 :

General Lab Instructions and Environment Setup:
This module introduces students to the CATIA V6 interface and overall design environment. It covers essential lab practices, logging in, and setting up the project workspace to ensure a smooth start for CAD modeling activities.

Module 2 :

Sketcher Workbench:
Students learn how to invoke and use the Sketcher workbench to create precise 2D profiles and geometric shapes such as profiles, rectangles, circles, splines, ellipses, lines, axes, and points. The module also focuses on applying geometric constraints and transformation tools, followed by hands-on practice through a series of sketching exercises.

Module 3 :

Part Design Workbench:
This module focuses on transforming 2D sketches into 3D components. Students will create and modify solid features such as pads, pockets, shafts, grooves, holes, ribs, and slots. It also includes applying dress-up and transformation features like fillets, chamfers, shell, draft, patterns, mirrors, and Boolean operations.

Module 4 :

Assembly Design Workbench:
Students explore the creation of complex products by assembling multiple parts. The module covers building product structures, inserting and positioning components, and applying assembly constraints such as coincidence, contact, offset, and angle. Assembly operations like add, remove, and split are practiced through real-world examples including the Plummer Block, Knuckle Joint Assembly, and Screw Jack Assembly.

Module 5 :

Drafting Workbench:
This module teaches the generation of detailed 2D drawings from 3D models. Students learn to create various view types, including projection, section, detail, and clipping views. It also covers dimensioning, annotations, tables, and geometry modification tools. The module concludes with the generation of draft views from assembly models, reinforcing industry-standard documentation skills.

Module 6 :

Generative Shape Design Module:
The final module introduces advanced surface and hybrid modeling techniques. Students learn to create free-form and complex surfaces using the Generative Shape Design tools in CATIA V6, preparing them for high-level modeling tasks and specialized design challenges.
