Syllabus

Module 1 :

• To write a relay ladder logic program to control a Single Conveyor belt system and an Elevator using PLC.
• To write a relay ladder logic program to control a washing machine system and a Traffic light system using PLC.
• Modeling and control of Twin Rotor MIMO System.
• Modeling and control of Inverted Pendulum system.
• To determine the model of the Coupled Tank system by employing system identification.
• To determine the model of the magnetic levitation system by employing system identification.
• Modelling and control of Precision Modular Servo System.
• Introduction to Matlab optimization toolbox.
• Introduction to Matlab LMI Toolbox.
• Mini project.

Course Objective

1 .

To introduce students to some MATLAB toolboxes for system identification, optimization and solving linear matrix inequality.

2 .

To introduce students to the basic ladder logic diagram

3 .

To introduce students to some microcontroller applications for communicating with sensors and actuators.

Course Outcome

1 .

Students will be able to
CO1. Apply system identification techniques for modeling SISO and MIMO systems.
CO2. Design controller for SISO and MIMO systems
CO3. Implement PLC ladder logic diagram
CO4. Learn to use the Optimization Toolbox of Matlab
CO5. Learn to use the LMI Toolbox of Matlab
CO6. Implement practical projects on the Matlab platform and/or on microcontrollers using sensors, and actuators.
