Module 1 :

Module 1: Fundamental and Classification of Whitewares (8 Hours)
General definition and classification white ware, porcelain, triaxial body and tiles, Raw materials, Different kind of glazes and their general characteristics. Reaction mechanism between raw materials
Module 2 : Processing of Traditional Whitewares (8 Hours)
Clay water system, rheology, viscosity, plasticity. Industrial manufacturing techniques. Glaze preparations and application techniques
Module 3 : High-temperature processing (6 Hours)
The high-temperature firing process, manufacturing techniques, properties and specifications, and Kiln control. Glaze and ceramic body interaction
Module 4: Process and Quality Control (6 Hours)
Mictrostructure Development , Defects in whiteware body and glaze, process optimization
Module 5: WhItewares for Insulator INDUSTRY (4 Hours)
Insulator technology: Essential properties for insulator, specifications, manufacturing techniques and flow diagram,

Course Objective

The course will provide in-depth knowledge in the whiteware technology

The course will help to develop the ability to think visually and communicate ideas in ceramic industries

The course will help to develop the ability to discuss and defend work about concepts, ideas, techniques and process

The course will help in developing skills in whiteware technologies and help in filling up the gap between industry and academia

Course Outcome

1. Upon completion of this course, a student will possess the knowledge of the classification, application and properties of different whiteware products and glazes
2. Upon completion of this course, a student will gain knowledge of different industrial fabrication techniques of ceramic whiteware and glazes
3. Upon completion of this course, a student will know structure-property correlations in whiteware technologies
4. Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to design and fabricate whiteware product
5. Upon completion of this course, a student will learn process optimization and quality control
