Session 1: Revisiting different methods of analysis of beams, columns and frames, the concept of computer-aided design. (2 Hours)
Session 2: The introduction of the software package (Staad. pro) used for the analysis and design of structures. (2 Hours)
Session 3: Dead load & Live load calculation according to IS codal provisions. (2 Hours)
Session 4: Methodologies of design of RCC structures according to IS codes. (2 Hours)
Session 5: Introduction to modelling of multi-storey frame building in Staad. pro. (2 Hours)
Session 6: Design of multi-storey frame building with Dead load & Live load using Staad. pro. (2 Hours)
Session 7: Wind load calculation for multi-storey buildings following IS 875 Part III. (2 Hours)
Session 8: Design of multi-storey buildings with Wind load using Staad. pro. (4 Hours)
Session 9: Concept of earthquake-resistant design of structures. (2 Hours)
Session 10: Seismic Analysis and design of multi-storey buildings using Staad.pro. (4 Hours)

Course Objective

1 .

To make students understand the concepts basic structural analysis and design methodologies according to IS codal provisions.

2 .

To make students familiar with the concept of CAD design.

3 .

To familiarize students with the earthquake-resistant structural design and application with Staad Pro.

4 .

To make students understand the wind load calculation procedure and design of multi-storey buildings with Staad Pro.

Course Outcome

1 .

CO1 Students will learn the structural analysis and design of beam, column and frame structures with Staad Pro.
CO2 Students will learn the design philosophies of RCC structures and the concept of CAD design according to IS codal provisions.
CO3 Students will learn the concept of design of multi-storey frame building with Dead load & Live load
CO4 Students will be able to calculate the wind load on building structures and design using the software Staad.pro
CO5 Students will be able to design multi-storey buildings subjected to earthquake loads with Stadd Pro. Software.
