Syllabus

Module I (8 hours): Evolution of EI, EIA at project Regional and policy levels, EIA process Screening and scoping criteria.
Module II (8 hours): Rapid and comprehensive EIA. Legislative and environmental clearance procedures in India.
Module III (8 hours): Public participation, Resettlement and rehabilitation. Practical applications of EIA, EIA methodologies. Environmental Management Systems.
Module IV (8 hours): Baseline data collection, Prediction and assessment of impacts on physical, biological and socio-economic environment, Environmental management plan, Environmental Impact Statement.

Identify the need to assess and evaluate the impact on environment.

Major principles of environmental impact assessment

Understand the different steps within environmental impact assessment

1) Overview of assessing risks posing threats to the environment
2) Be able to access different case studies/examples of EIA in practice
3) Able to to liaise with and the importance of stakeholders in the EIA process
4) Able to understand the process of EIA.
5) Be able to predict the impacts on the environment.
