Module 1 :

Soil in subgrade, subbase and unstabilised base: Basic and advanced engineering properties
Soil stabilization: different methods 8 hrs

Module 2 :

Aggregate: Conventional and non-conventional aggregates used in paving and their characterization/evaluation 8 hrs

Module 3 :

Bituminous binders: Properties, testing and applications of conventional, modified binders and emulsions, Material Characterisation of bituminous binders, Superpave concept 12 hrs

Module 4 :

Bituminous mixes: Design, testing and evaluation by conventional and Superpave method 8 hrs
Material Characterisation of bituminous mixes,

Module 5 :

Materials for cement concrete and semi-rigid pavements, Design of PQC/DLC mixes. Design of mixes for stabilized roads, Non-conventional and new pavement materials- their application and limitations.

Course Objective

1 .

To impart practical and latest knowledge on conventional and non-conventional paving materials along with their characterisation.

2 .

To train on design of different types of bituminous and concrete paving mixes for Highways and Airports.

Impart knowledge of various Highway and Airport Pavement Materials

Characterise pavement materials using Conventional and Advanced Techniques.

Design of mixes for unbound and bound Pavement layers

Evaluate bituminous paving binder and mixes for Highways and Airports.

Demonstrate applications of Non-conventional and new materials for pavement.
