Module 1 :

Module - 1
Soil-Foundation Interaction: Introduction to soil-foundation interaction problems, Soil behavior, Foundation behavior, Interface behavior, Scope of soil foundation interaction analysis, soil response models, Winkler, Elastic continuum, Two parameter elastic models, Elasto-plastic behavior, Time-dependent behavior. [6 hours]

Module - 2
Beams on Elastic Foundation-Soil Models: Infinite beam, Two parameters, Isotropic elastic half-space, Analysis of beams of finite length, Classification of finite beams in relation to their stiffness. [6 hours]

Module - 3
Elastic Analysis of Pile: Elastic analysis of single pile, Theoretical solutions for settlement and load distributions, Analysis of pile group, Interaction analysis, Load distribution in groups with rigid cap. [6 hours]

Module - 4
Laterally Loaded Pile: Load deflection prediction for laterally loaded piles, Subgrade reaction and elastic analysis, Interaction analysis, Pile-raft system, Solutions through influence charts. [6 hours]

Module - 5
Basics of Machine Foundations: Types of Machine Foundations, General requirements of Machine Foundations and Design criteria, Resonant Frequency, Dynamic Load, Idealization of Foundation Dynamic Problems, Machine Block-Foundation-Soil System (MFS), Machine-Pile Foundation-Soil System (MPFS) [6 hours]

Module - 6
Basics of Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering: Introduction, Effect of Earthquake, Elastic Rebound Theory, Wave Propagation, Attenuations of Stress waves, Dynamic Soil properties. [6 hours]

Analyze the behavior of beams on elastic foundations.

Design Concepts foundations for static and dynamic loads.

Evaluate the effects of earthquakes on soil and foundations.
