| Module 1 : |
Introduction and design philosophy , Properties of concrete and steel reinforcement bars. Indian standard specifications and standard design Aids, design philosophy, Introduction to working stress method and Limit state method. Limit state of collapse and Limit state of serviceability. ( 4 hours) |
| Module 2 : |
Analysis of singly and doubly reinforced rectangular sections for bending. Flanged Beams, Analysis for Shear, bond and Torsion. (10 hours) |
| Module 3 : |
Design of beams for flexure, shear, torsion ,bond following IS 456-2000 with reinforcement detailing.(4 hours). |
| Module 4 : |
Analysis and design of one way slab, simply supported and restrained two way slab with Reinforcement detailing. (4 hours) |
| Module 5 : |
Types of staircases, Functional design of stair case, Design of dog-legged and Open well staircase. (4hours) |
| Module 6 : |
Analysis and design of axially loaded short column, column subjected to uni-axial and bi-axial moments, design of slender column, Interaction curves, Design aids for reinforced concrete to IS 456. (8 hours) |

Analysis and design of rectangular isolated footing with axial load. (4 hours) |
Course Objective
| 1 . |
Student will learn the basic concepts of designing reinforced concrete elements |

Students will learn to design beam, slab, staircase following the guidelines of IS 456-2000. |

Students will learn to design short and long columns for axial, uniaxial and biaxial loadings. |

Students will learn to design isolated footing. |

Students will learn about reinforcement detailing in various elements. |
