Grain Size Analysis (Mechanical Sieve Analysis and Wet Analysis) [3 hours]

Module 4 :

Field Density by Core Cutter Method and Sand Replacement Method [3 hours]

Module 5 :

Free Swell Index Test and Laboratory Vane Shear Test [3 hours]

Module 6 :

OMC and MDD Using (a) Light Compaction Test, (b) Proctor Needle Test [3 hours]

Module 7 :

Direct Shear Test and Laboratory Vane Shear Test [3 hours]

Module 8 :

Unconfined Compression Test and Triaxial Shear Test (UU) [3 hours]

Course Outcome

1 .

Determine and analyze the physical properties of soils, including moisture content, specific gravity, and Atterberg limits.

Conduct grain size analysis using mechanical sieve and wet analysis methods to classify soils.

Perform field density determination using core cutter and sand replacement methods to evaluate in-situ soil density and compaction.

4 .

Evaluate shear strength, compaction, and swelling characteristics of soil.

5 .

Assess compressive strength, permeability, and bearing capacity of soil.
