Experiment 2: [3 hrs]
Tests on fine aggregates: (a) Determination of particle size and shape as per IS 2386: Part I: 1963 and (b) Determination of specific gravity and water absorption as per IS 2386: Part III: 1963
Experiement 3: [3 hrs]
Tests on coarse aggregates: (a) Determination of particle size and shape as per IS 2386: Part I: 1963 and (b) Determination of specific gravity and water absorption as per IS 2386: Part III: 1963

Non-destructive testing of concrete: (a) using ultrasonic pulse velocity as per IS 516: Part 5: Sec 1: 2018 and (b) using rebound hammer as per IS 13311 (Part-1):1992 (IS 516: Part 5: Sec 4: 2020)

Test on RC Beams deficient in flexure
Experiment 10: [3 hrs]
Test on RC Beams deficient in shear

Course Objective

1 .

To learn the properties of cement, aggregates, bricks and reinforcing steel bars.

2 .

To learn the properties of fresh and harden concrete.

3 .

To learn the failure patterns of scaled model of RC beams.

4 .

To learn the properties of harden concrete by performing the non-destructive tests.

Course Outcome

1 .

Students will be able to
CO1. Find the properties of cement, aggregates, bricks and reinforcing steel bars conducting laboratory tests according to relevant Indian standards.
CO2. Find properties of fresh concrete conducting tests according to Indian Standard.
CO3. Find compressive strength of 7 days, 14 days and 28 days hardened concrete by loading it to failure
CO4. Perform laboratory tests on scaled structural models.
CO5. Perform non-destructive tests on hardened concrete to estimate its strength.
