Syllabus

Module 1 :

Module I [6hrs]
1. To geo-reference a given map using Arc-GIS software.
2. To extract the region of interest (ROI) from the selected study area and to create slope and contour map.

Module II [6hrs]
1. To fill the DEM, create a flow accumulation map, and generate flow direction, stream order, and stream-to-feature maps
2. To develop a workflow for processing Landsat-8 data, creating composite bands, mosaicking multiple tiles, and extracting ROIs.

Module III [9hrs]
1. To classify the land use and cover using iso-cluster unsupervised classification method.
2. To classify the land use and cover of an area using the maximum likelihood supervised classification method.
3. To assess the accuracy of the supervised classification method through kappa co-efficient.

Module IV [9hrs]
1. To derive the vegetation index, normalized difference vegetation index, normalized difference water index, and normalized difference built-up index of a region to characterize the status and variability of vegetation, soil, water, and landscape.
2. To determine the land surface temperature of a specified region by analyzing various factors, including spectral radiance, atmospheric brightness temperature, normalized difference vegetation index, the proportion of vegetation, and land surface emissivity.
3. To produce a spatial distribution map showing the variation of rainfall by utilizing the IDW technique.
