Course Objective

1 .

Identify and classify different types of soils

2 .

Determination of index and engineering properties of soil

3 .

Know the testing of geotechnical materials independently in the laboratory and be prepared for industry readiness as well as pursuing further research

4 .

Evaluate and analyze the test results

Course Outcome

1 .

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
CO1: Analyze and interpret the physical properties of soils, including moisture content, specific gravity, and Atterberg limits.
CO2: Perform grain size analysis using mechanical sieve and wet analysis methods to classify soils.
CO3: Determine field density using core cutter and sand replacement methods to evaluate in-situ soil density and compaction.
CO4: Evaluate shear strength, compaction, and swelling characteristics of soil.
CO5: Assess compressive strength, permeability, and bearing capacity of soil through unconfined compression test, permeability tests, and CBR test.
