Module 1 :

Module 1: Wastewater Constituents and Kinetics
Constituents of wastewaters: sources and significant parameters, Fundamentals of process kinetics: zero-order, first-order, and second-order reactions, Enzyme reactions and their role in wastewater treatment

Module 2: Bioreactors and Treatment Design
Types and classification of bioreactors, Design principles of wastewater treatment systems, Primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment processes, Evaluation of biokinetic parameters

Module 3: Activated Sludge and Biological Treatment Systems
Activated sludge processes: modifications and design, Biological nitrification and denitrification, Attached growth biological treatment systems: trickling filters and rotating biological contactors, Waste stabilization ponds and lagoons: aerobic, facultative, anaerobic, polishing ponds, and aerated lagoons

Module 4: Anaerobic Processes and Sludge Management
Process fundamentals of anaerobic treatment, Types of anaerobic reactors: standard, high-rate, and hybrid reactors, Anaerobic filters and fluidized bed reactors, Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactors and expanded granular bed reactors, Two-stage/phase anaerobic reactors, Sludge digestion and disposal methods

To advance the students knowledge in biological wastewater treatment systems and enhancing the principles of treatment plants design aspects
