Syllabus

Module 1 :

Experiment 1 – Hardness measurement of metallic materials using Vickers, Rockwell, Brinell, and Poldi hardness testing machines
Experiment 2 – Microhardness testing of two and/or multiphase alloy systems
Experiment 3 – Tensile tests of low-carbon steel (annealed), high-carbon steel (annealed), and a non-ferrous alloy
Experiment 4 – Development of true stress – true strain diagram/s using tensile data and determination of strain hardening exponent
Experiment 5 – Compression testing of ceramics, powder metallurgy specimens
Experiment 6 – Three-point bend test of non–metallic materials
Experiment 7 – Wear studies of different materials
Experiment 8– High cycle fatigue test and development of S – N curve
Experiment 9 – Determination of plane strain fracture toughness (K-IC) of brittle materials using indentation fracture toughness test method

Course Objective
