Module 1 :

Measurement of Illuminance by Digital Light meter (Model: Metravi 1332)

2. Measurement of Noise Level by Integrating Sound Level Meter and Model: I.CEL-283EX , II. Bruel & Kjaer 2236

3. Determination of Ignition temperature of coal by using Flammability Temperature Apparatus

4. Determination of Crossing Point Temperature of coal by C.P.T. Apparatus
5. Determination of Gross Calorific value of coal by Bomb Calorimeter.
6. Determination of Spontaneous Heating Susceptibility of coal using Differential Thermal Analyzer (DTA),Model: SHIMADZU,DTG-60/60H

7. Measurement of Respirable dust concentration by PM10 & PM 2.5 Sampler: Model: I. Evirotech APM 460NL II. Evirotech APM 550.

8. Determination of Ignition Temperature and Relative Inflammability Index of coal using Godbert-Greenwald apparatus.
9. Determination of different parameters of Water using Water Testing kits
10. Determination of different parameters of Soil using Soil Testing kits.
11. Determination of hearing ability status of person using PC based Digital Audiometer.
12. Measurement of lung efficiency using Spirometer (Model:RMS Helio 702)

Course Objective

1 .

To know the different methods of coal analysis for assessing liability to spontaneous heating and mine fires

2 .

To analyse particulate matter concentration in air.

3 .

Measure different parameters of water, soil, noise and illumination

Course Outcome

1 .

Measurement of Illuminance levels in work site

2 .

Demonstrate the working of different types of noise measuring instruments (Sound level meter, Audiometer)

3 .

Assess the spontaneous combustion liabilities of coal using different experimental techniques like CPT, DTA, Bomb calorimetry, Flammability temperature etc and understand their implications in coal mining industry.

4 .

Determine the particulate matter concentrations (PM10 & PM2.5) in air using high volume samplers and assess lung function test using spirometry.

5 .

Analyze water and soil quality parameters in mines and know its relevance for mining applications
