Syllabus

Module 1 :

Module 1: Understanding gender in today’s world, key concepts, gender identity, gender expression, gender stereotypes, gendered bodies, learning about the transgender spectrum.

Module 2: How gender works in everyday life, gender gap, gender dynamics in workplace, gender roles and norms, gendered norms of leadership, gender representation and media.


Module 3: Understanding gendered language, linguistic sexism, critical discourse analysis, power of language, language as resistance.

Module 4: Diversity and inclusion: enhanced performance and profitability, positive business outcomes, changing the ‘talent management game.’

Module 5: Corporate social intelligence managing multicultural teams gender equity, Narratives, accounts, case-studies.

Course Objective

1 .

Understand the significance of gender, diversity, and inclusion in today’s globalised context.

2 .

Appreciate the benefits of a gender inclusive workplace culture and recognize the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) advantage.

3 .

Identify the skills and characteristics that help create and foster gender inclusive workplace culture and communication strategies.

4 .

Discuss and debate on gender, diversity, and inclusion (GDI) narratives, accounts, and case-histories.

CO1: Understand and appreciate the basics of GDI.
CO2: Gain insight into how gender, diversity and inclusiveness issues may be managed and achieved.
CO3: Recognise the benefits of a DEI culture.
CO4: Understand language and communication in everyday life from a gender perspective.
