Syllabus

Module1: Introduction: Mine Legislation, General principles of Mining Law, Principal Provisions of Mines Act, Mines, and Minerals (Regulation and Development) Act. [5 hours]
Module 2: Coal Mines Regulation, Metalliferous Mines Regulation, Mine Rescue Rules, Indian Forest Act, National Mineral Policy [7 hours]
Module 3: Mineral Concession Rules, Mineral Conservation Rules, Mines Rules 1955, Electricity Rules, Industrial Disputes Act. 1947. [6 hours]
Module 4: Mining Accidents: Their causes and prevention, accident statistics, rates of accidents, the relation between accidents and job efficiency, accident investigation, accident reports, and cost of accidents. [5 hours]
Module 5: Mine Safety, Safety Risk Assessment, and Management, Safety Audit, Occupational health and safety in mines. [6 hours]
Module 6: Mine Safety Management Systems, Safety Education, and Training, Vocational Training Rules. [5 hours]

The students are made conversant with legal requirements and safety aspects of mining

The students are made conversant with Coal and Metal Mining Rules and Regulations

The students are made conversant with Mines Act and Mines Rules applicable to Indian Mines

The students are made conversant with mine accidents and safety aspects of mining

CO1: To introduce General principles of Mining Law including various acts, rules, regulations, and bylaws.
CO2: To learn procedures for accident investigation and preparation of accident reports.
CO3: To understand Safety risk assessment principles and the Safety management system in mines
