| Module 1 : |
Introduction: Various types of Mine hazards encountered during mining including Blasting, use of mining machinery, Roof fall, and Side fall. |
| Module 2 : |
Coal Mine fire - Classification of mine fire, the genesis of mine fire, Spontaneous heating of coal, incubation period, detection of fire, prevention, and control of mine fire in underground coal mines |
| Module 3 : |
Mine Explosion – Methane explosion, Coal dust explosion, genesis, detection, prevention, and control in underground coal mines

| Module 4 : |
Water danger in mines, Surface and underground precautions to prevent flooding of the mines, Inundation of mines, and dewatering |
| Module 5 : |
Rock Bursts, Coal Mine Bumps, detection, prevention, and control technology used in mines |
| Module 6 : |
Rescue and Recovery operations in mines, Rescue station, Rescue equipment, classification, recovery operations after mine fire, explosion, and inundation. |

Course Outcome

CO 1. The students will learn the process of identifying and assessing different hazards present in underground mines like fire, explosion, roof fall, side fall, rock bursts, coal bumps, inundation etc. |

CO 2. Acquire comprehensive knowledge on the causes of underground mine disaster and their mitigation procedure. |
