Syllabus

1. To study the basic concept of vacuum pump and different vacuum regions
2. To study the classification of vacuum pumps and their applications
3. Test the performance of low capacity vacuum pump – Single stage rotary vacuum pump
4. Test the performance of low capacity vacuum pump – Two stage rotary vacuum pump with Root pump
5. The comparative test between pump and system using connecting pipes (parallel and series connecting pipe)
6. Test the performance of medium capacity vacuum pump – Diffusion pump
7. To conduct experiments on residual gas analysis in the diffusion pump system and cracking patterns to find the qualitative air composition.
8. Test the performance of High/Ultra high capacity vacuum pump – Turbo molecular vacuum pump
9. To study the vacuum insulation and leak detection in the system
10. To design the vacuum chamber
11. To measure the pumping speed using constant volume and constant pressure method.
12. To measure the outgassing rate for all three types of vacuum pump.
