Module 1 :

Systematic analysis of linear and non-linear circuits

Oriented graphs, incidence matrix, and topology equations, The Tableau method, The Nodal formulation, The MNA
method for DC and frequency-domain analysis, The MNA for nonlinear circuits, Time-domain transient analysis of linear
circuits

Module 2 :

Multiport Network Parameters and Interconnected Multi-ports

Multi-port Network, Network Parameters and Their Interrelationship, Property of Multi-port Network, Network Analysis
and Synthesis, Example of Multi-port Network, Sub-Network of a Multi-port Network, Interconnected multiport network.

Module 3 :

Equivalent Transmission Line and Matching Network
5 hours
Concept of single frequency and multi-band equivalence, Design of equivalent transmission lines using lumped and dis-
tributed circuit, Design of phase shifting matching networks with different topologies.

Module 4 :

Design of Small Size Multiport networks
4 hours
The concept of junction, Even-Odd mode analysis, Port-Decomposition technique, Y-matrix method, Design of power
divider and couplers

Module 5 :

Synthesis of Filters
5 hours
Filter Design by the Insertion Loss Method, Filter Transformations, Filter Implementation, Stepped-Impedance Low-Pass
Filters, Coupled Line Filters, Filters Using Coupled Resonators

Course Objective

1 .

To make students familiar with modern network analysis techniques.

2 .

To make students well educated in multiport network analysis and synthesis.

3 .

To prepare students for the design of RF sub-components.

4 .

To provide knowledge on filter design theory.

Course Outcome

1 .

On completion of this course, students are expected to be able to:
CO1 Analyze linear circuits using the Tableau formulation and Graph Theory (ANALYSIS)

2 .

CO2 Analyze linear and nonlinear circuits using the Modified Nodal Analysis (MNA) method (ANALYSIS)

3 .

CO3 Analyze inter connected multiport networks (ANALYSIS)

4 .

CO4 Design passive sub networks like matching networks, power divider, couplers. (Design)

5 .

CO5 Design Passive filters for high-frequency applications. (Design)
