Syllabus

Module 1 :

1. Design and Simulation of non-isolated asynchronous DC/DC Buck Converter
2. Design and Simulation of non-isolated synchronous DC/DC Boost Converter
3. Design and Simulation of isolated fly-back DC/DC Converter
4. Design and Simulation of 1-ph DC/AC inverter

Module 2 :

5. MCU Programming to implement a pair of PWM signals using the Arduino Mega board
6. MOSFET/ IGBT gate driver circuit design and testing using TLP250
7. Open-loop buck/boost converter power stage development and testing
8. DC/DC synchronous boost converter development and testing
9. Mini project to implement the designed power converter

Course Objective

1 .

Acquire skill to design and simulate different power electronic converters in LTspice.

2 .

Learn MCU programming to generate PWM signals using the Arduino Mega board

3 .

To learn fabrication of gate driver circuits.

4 .

To learn the design and fabrication of dc-dc and dc-ac power converter circuits.

Course Outcome

1 .

Analyze and model the performance of power electronic circuits using appropriate simulation tools (e.g. LTspice).

2 .

Ability to do programming to generate PWM signals using the Arduino Mega board.

3 .

Select and integrate appropriate power semiconductor devices (IGBT, MOSFET, etc.) and passive components for converter design.

4 .

Able to design and fabricate gate driver, various dc-dc and dc-ac power converter circuits.

5 .

Demonstrate practical skills in the fabrication and testing of power electronic circuits, including soldering, and troubleshooting.

6 .

Work effectively in teams to complete converter design and fabrication projects, demonstrating documentation and project management skills.
