Module I: Mechanism of Remote sensing, Ideal Remote Sensing System, Elements of Remote Sensing System, Passive and Active Remote Sensing, Electromagnetic radiations, Electromagnetic Spectrum, Interaction with the atmosphere, Energy sources and radiation principle, scattering, absorption, atmospheric windows, Interaction with targets, albedo, spectral reflectance curves of earth features, Characteristics of images. [10 hrs]
