Course Objective

1 .

Identify the multiple components of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), including user services and support technologies.

2 .

Understand the importance of ITS and its practical applications in improving transportation efficiency, proposing recommendations for appropriate ITS technologies corresponding to real traffic problems.

3 .

Analyze advanced sensor data, gather extensive information, roadway, and traffic data, and estimate traffic congestion levels.

4 .

Implement and execute suitable Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and services to optimize transportation effectiveness by utilizing various ITS-based design and control elements.

Course Outcome

1 .

After the completion of this course, students will be able to:
CO1 Describe the methods and applications of sensor technologies and remote sensing data capture systems in transportation engineering.
CO2 Define and summarize the use of advanced data acquisition systems for traffic management and operations.
CO3 Understand the standards for ITS application and the development process.
CO4 Determine suitable standards for effectively implementing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
CO5 Analyze strategies for enhancing transportation systems' sustainability, efficiency, and safety, considering different case studies.
