Syllabus

Module 1 :

Module I:
Theory of parametric design:
Concept and potential applications of parametric design concept in building elements and products.
Assignment: case study of parametric design concept in built forms and product
Module II:
Generating Parametric Models:
Creation of building blocks and parametric forms, understanding parametric simulation tools: Linking building model with parametric simulation interface, setting up of parametric goals, inputs and for parametric design goals, understanding of achieved outputs.
Module III:
Parametric design applications in building components and products:
Design of parametric building components, such as facades, shading device or modular units using parametric simulation tools designing parametric algorithms for design of products.
Assignment: Design of a parametric façade or shading device

Course Objective

1 .

To be able to understand, analyse and apply parametric design principles in architectural form generation.

2 .

To be able to design Parametric building elements such as façade, roof etc. and apply the concept in allied fields.

Course Outcome

1 .

1. Ability to design parametric shapes and forms with algorithmic approaches.
2. Ability to develop logical understanding of parametric form finding.
3. Ability to understand the application of parametric tools towards design of resource efficient building elements and products.
