Module I: Nature and scope of environmental psychology:
Overview of environmental psychology Scope of environmental psychology Origin and history of environmental psychology Theoretical perspectives in environmental psychology
Environmental ‘influences’ on human cognition and behaviour Place-related theories in environmental psychology
Interconnectedness of people and nature The restorative capacity of natural environments Anthropocentric, biocentric and eco-centric views of the world
The new environmental paradigm and other related concepts Pro-environmental behaviour.

Module II: Research Methods in Environmental Psychology:
Methods of data collection in environmental psychology (observations, behaviour mapping, GIS, surveys, interviews, and others)
Overview of analysis techniques used in the field of environmental psychology.

Module III: Environmental psychology in designing different type of spaces:
Study of approaches and case studies for application of environmental psychology in designing of educational/ learning environments, healthy environments, healing spaces, residential environments, workplace environments, public spaces and others.

Assignment: Assess the efficacy of a built environment in responding to psychological needs of users, based on the theories, concepts, and assessment techniques of environmental psychology, and suggest appropriate interventions.

To develop skills to analyse, evaluate, and implement the acquired knowledge of environmental psychology on different building types, by using relevant concepts, theories, and methods.
