Syllabus

Module-I (3 hrs) / Introduction to Visual Arts: Art history a brief introduction to various art forms and movements.

Module-II (6 hrs) / Sketching with pencil, pen, and ink: Basics of sketching with pencil and pen and ink hatching techniques perspective sketching Assignment: Still-life sketching of object(s) with different types of hatching Outdoor sketching

Module-III (6 hrs) / Rendering with colours: Introduction to colour theory - colour wheel, additive, subtractive, colour palettes (complementary, analogous, triadic etc.) Assignment: Pattern (2D composition of shapes) using different colour palettes (poster colour) Painting from imagination or life or reference images (water colour)

Module-IV (6 hrs) / Photography: Introduction to basic mechanism of a camera (focal length, lens types, exposure, shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, ISO, light conditions) introduction to basics of post-processing of photographs Assignment: Photographing still-life/ landscapes/ portraits/ architecture/ abstracts depicting a theme Creative post-processing of digital photographs.

Module-V (6 hrs) / Graphic design: Basics of graphic design by composing shapes and texts while experimenting with size, position, typography, and colour palettes Assignment: Design of a poster / book cover / logo.

Module-VI (9 hrs) / Form generation: Introduction to generation of form (additive and subtractive) Assignment: Additive and subtractive form generation.

To learn systematic and technical processes of visual arts in varied media.

To learn skills in communicating effectively with visual images and forms.

1. Ability to create works of visual arts while applying varied techniques and media.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with the help of visual images and forms.
3. Ability to analyse and draw inspirations from the patterns in nature.
4. Ability to generate 3D forms of desired shape and texture.
