Definition, Introduction and classification, primary and secondary Manufacturing processes Engineering Materials for Manufacturing, Metals & Alloys - Ferrous & non-Ferrous Metals, Non-Metallic Materials Mechanical Properties of Materials, Stress-Strain curve of brittle and ductile materials.
Casting - Nomenclature, Sand Mould Casting - Mould making, patterns used in sand mould casting Investment Casting Permanent mould casting Centrifugal casting applications, advantages and limitations of casting process Casting defects.
Forming - Nature of Plastic Deformation, Rolling, Forging, Extrusion and wire drawing advantages, limitations and defects of various forming processes.
Fabrication –Temporary and permanent joining processes, Soldering, Brazing, types of welded joints, Gas Welding – TIG and MIG welding, Resistance welding, Thermit welding, Friction welding, advantages, limitations and defects of various fabrication processes.
Material removal process – Tools used for machining, introduction to traditional and non-traditional machining process chip removal process – turning, drilling, milling, planning and shaping Abrasion process – polishing, grinding, honing Erosion process – electro chemical machining, electro discharge machining.
