Subject {L-T-P / C} : MM3502 : Additive Manufacturing { 3-0-0 / 3}

Subject Nature : Theory

Syllabus

Module 1 :

Basics of manufacturing, concept on 3D printing, classification of additive manufacturing. Metallurgy in Additive Manufacturing. (4 hr)

Module 2 :

Additive manufacturing of Polymeric materials: Stereolithography (SLA), Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) / Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), Digital Light Processing (DLP), Limitations, applications. (6 hr)

Additive manufacturing of metallic materials: Selective Laser Melting (SLM) / Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), Electron Beam Melting (EBM), Advantages of Metallic AM. (8 hr)

Additive manufacturing of Ceramic materials: Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Stereolithography (SLA) / Digital Light Processing (DLP), Challenges in Ceramic AM and application. (6 hr)

Module 3 :

Additive manufacturing of Multi-materials: Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), FDM with Multi-Nozzle Heads, Directed Energy Deposition (DED) for Metal-Metal Gradients, Advantages and limitations of Multi-Material AM, processing-microstructure-property relationships of various AM product. (8 hr)
High temperature material processing by AM: Laser source Based AM, Fundamentals of industrial lasers. Laser materials interaction theories. Laser processing for various industries such as metals, non-metals, photovoltaic, bio-medical applications. Electron source Based AM (EBAM), vacuum chamber of EBAM, focus of electron beam, Limitations and Challenges in high temperature materials AM. (8 hr)
