Syllabus

Module 1 :

Module – I (10 Hours)
Concept of texture in materials, Texture representation by pole figure and orientation distribution functions.

Module – II (10 Hours)
Texture measurement by different techniques: X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD).

Module – III (10 Hours)
Origin and development of textures during materials processing stages: solidification, deformation, annealing, phase transformation, coating processes and thin film deposition. Some important textures in fcc, bcc and hcp materials.

Module – IV (5 Hours)
Influence of texture on mechanical and physical properties of materials.
