Physical metallurgy Lab (MM4123) Syllabus – 10 Hrs

Course Objective
| 1 . |
To craft the understanding among the undergraduate students about the metallographic technique such as preparation of metallographic specimens and observation under optical microscope. |
| 2 . |
To understand the general idea about the microstructure of pure metals like Cu, Fe, Sn and brass with different Zn percentage. |
| 3 . |
To study and analyze the microstructure of steels and cast irons having different percent of carbon. |
| 4 . |
To learn the basic of heat treatment processes such as annealing, normalizing, hardening etc. and study the associated microstructures. To acquire knowledge about the age hardening behavior of aluminum alloys of 2xxx and 7xxx series. |
