Course Objective

1 .

Students will be able to study various Microwave components and measure their parameters using Klystron/Gunn Oscillator

2 .

Students will be able to measure the VSWR, reflection coefficient, frequency, wavelength and impedance using a microwave test bench

3 .

Students will be able to study the characteristics of Directional Coupler and magic tee. Besides, they will be able to measure the radiation pattern of a horn antennas.

4 .

Students will be able to design and simulate a simple microstrip patch antenna structure using CST Microwave studio and HFSS. Besides, they will also learn teh uses of VNA (or Performance Network Analyzer (PNA)).

Course Outcome

1 .

After the completion of this course, students will be able to:

CO1: understand the design aspect of Power dividers, Couplers, and feed networks using HFSS
CO2: describe describe the working principle of Power dividers, Couplers, and feed networks qualitatively.
CO3: analyze different parameters using experiments and electromagnetic simulator HFSS.
CO4: apply the knowledge to investigate the cause and effect qualitatively
CO5: construct/design some basic design by their own
